In Your House: Canadian Stampede

In Your House: Canadian Stampede Review

This is usually known as the best of the In Your House PPVs, but how good is it? Let's find out.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs Mankind
This feud started four weeks previously at the King of the Ring PPV where Hunter beat Mankind to become the King. These guys have some amazing chemistry with each other, and they would only get better and better. A great opening contest that the crowd loved and Mankind was a great sympathetic babyface. The brawl that took place after the match and throughout the night was also awesome. The match combined with the brawl gets  ***3/4 from me.

Taka Michinoku vs The Great Sasuke
Two fantastic Japanese wrestlers going one on one = awesome fun and makes me a happy panda. The Light Heavyweight division in the WWF never seemed to be respected, but these two guys would force that respect out of everyone. Both guys showed brilliant athleticism here with some amazing high flying moves. It was short but fantastic while it lasted. A show stealing performance on any other show, but on this show it was just another awesome contest. ****

The Undertaker vs Vader
The WWF Title is on the line. The feud between Paul Bearer and Taker was still ongoing here, and this time Bearer had Vader. It wouldn't be long until Kane made his first appearance. Anyway this was a very good big man match with two of the best big men in the business. The crowd absolutely loved Taker here. Both guys came out looking good. Good stuff here. ***1/4

Bret Hart / Owen Hart / Brian Pillman / Jim Neidhart / British Bulldog vs Stone Cold / Ken Shamrock / Goldust / Legion of Doom
The other matches tonight may have been awesome, but this is why this event is remembered so fondly. The pop that the Hart Foundation gets from the audience is absolutely spine-chilling and one of the loudest crowd reactions I've ever heard. Not only that but the match was awesome all the way through its entire twenty-five minute runtime and the atmosphere was incredible with crowd making the whole building shake with their cheers. One of the coolest and most memorable matches in the history of professional wrestling that should be viewed by every fan. Amazing. *****

9.5/10. Only four matches and it's still one of the greatest shows in the company's history. There's a lot of variety too, as you have a good big man match, an awesome technical encounter, a great brawl, and a chaotic tag match that is one of the best in history. Very highly recommended viewing.
